May presentation – Chris Crump from Comrex
IP technology for TV/Radio/Web & Beyond
Remote broadcasts for both radio and television have already been revolutionized by IP technology and the ability to broadcast from anywhere an IP data connection can be made. Whether using Inmarsat BGAN satellite technology, wired broadband or 3G and 4G wireless cellular data services, broadcasters can now broadcast from virtually anywhere. The development of BRIC Technology has made the use of inherently “fragile” data networks, such as the public Internet, capable of delivering live, real-time, full duplex and dependable broadcasts. Chris Crump from Comrex will discuss BRIC Technology, as well as other Comrex advancements, and how they complement new wired and wireless data technologies, such as 4G LTE, to provide broadcasters with a stable operating medium for delivering real-time, high quality remote broadcast content. He'll also provide a preview of new Comrex products such as the ACCESS 2USB IP Audio Codec, LiveShot IP Video Codec and STAC VIP VoIP Talk Show System.
Crump began his radio career in 1987 as a producer at WHYT-FM in Detroit before his work as an editor for the Mediabase radio trade magazine Monday Morning Replay. He went on to serve as a Remote Broadcast Engineer, on-air talent and then Creative Services Director for Capitol Broadcasting (subsequently Paxson Communications) in Orlando as well as the Ron & Ron Radio Network in Tampa. Since 1996 he has served in sales capacities for Euphonix, Symetrix and Klotz Digital. Since 2004 he has served as Director of Sales for Comrex Corporation. Chris, his wife Seval and 7-year-old daughter Zara, live just north of Atlanta. He’s a member of SBE Chapter 5 in Atlanta and an assistant Scoutmaster of Troop 597 in Dacula, GA.
